TA141 Eikrem

A guide to help students of TA141 find a monologue and play

Finding a monologue

Finding a monologue you like that suits you can be a difficult thing! You may be tempted to go to Google, but there are a lot of reasons this is a bad idea. Monologues online are often from films, heavily edited or incorrect, or have been written for the website and aren't from a play! So how do you find a good one?

  1. I highly recommend that you start by looking through one of our books of monologues that are on reserve for this class. I have listed them here for future reference.
  2. If you know of a play or author that you like, use the "Find Plays!" tab to search for that play and skim to find a monologue. (This takes more time)
  3. If you don't know of a play or author, try a search for "plays" in the catalog and select a book of plays that looks interesting to skim. (This takes a lot more time)
  4. If you still can't find something like, try searching one of the online resources I have provided below.  Warning-  these resources all have a very small selection and may have monologues from films or be heavily edited. Proceed with caution!

Online resources

I found very few resources online (and I am an expert researcher!) that had a good selection of monologues. Below are a couple I liked- however, be sure to check the content of each monologue, and use these sites as a last resort! Many sites you will find by Googleing have monologues that were written just for the website and therefore do not have a play that you can find.
