The United States is comprised of a great diversity of experiences, cultures, abilities, issues, and people. Conversations centering on various aspects of this great diversity are numerous - in the news media, on social media, in neighborhood coffeeshops, at the dinner table. One topic is race and racism in the United States.
Racism exists. It manifests itself in different ways - through people, systems, and social structures. Race and racism are a part of the history and culture of the United States, and are inextricably tied to modern day issues of economics and class, education, gender, criminal justice, identity, privilege, and power.
CCC Library offers print books, eBooks, and streaming videos exploring these topics. Accessing credible, reflective resources authored by people of color, researchers and historians, and those with lived experience is an excellent starting point for learning more about the state of race and racism in the United States today.
