Borrowing library items

CCC Library strives to remove barriers to accessing information through our library policies and practices.

  • Are there late fines? What happens when an item is lost, or brought back late?
  • CCC Library is fine and fee free! Patrons will not accrue fines or fees for overdue or lost items. However, CCC Library will implement a suspension of borrowing privileges for patrons who have four (4) or more overdue or lost items. CCC Library strives to provide patrons with ample communication to return overdue and lost items before borrowing privileges are impacted. All CCC patrons, including CCC Faculty and Staff, may have their borrowing privileges impacted by overdue or lost items.
Suspension of borrowing privileges will be automatically lifted once the total number of overdue or lost items is below four (4). CCC Library is committed to working with patrons are unable to return overdue or lost items to regain borrowing privileges on a case-by-case basis.
Please contact circ@clackamas.edu, or call the Circulation Services desk at (503) 594-3491, with any questions about this policy.

  • I'm a community member: Can I borrow books?
  • Yes! Residents of Clackamas County may obtain a Community Borrower card at CCC Library's Circulation Services desk. To sign up for a community borrower's card, you need a piece of ID that shows you are a Clackamas County resident. With your card you may borrow CCC Library's books and request items we do not own through Interlibrary Loan.
  • I'm a community member: Can I access online material?
  • Community members can access online material from computers on CCC's campuses (Oregon City, Harmony, Wilsonville). Community borrowers do not have remote-access privileges.
  • How do I renew books?
  • CCC Library-owned items may be renewed online from your library account.
  • I need help finding a textbook.
  • CCC Library offers FREE access to many required textbooks, recommended textbooks, workbooks, and other course materials through our Course Reserves collection. Check if the library has your textbook at the Circulation Services desk, or search our library catalog. Use any photo ID to check out Course Reserves.
To purchase or rent a textbook, visit the CCC Bookstore.
  • How can I put a hold on a book? What is a “hold”?
  • When you place a hold on a book, it means you are reserving the book for you to check out, so nobody else can borrow it before you get into the library. Please note that Course Reserves are first-come, first-served in the library and cannot be placed on hold.
    1. Locate the book in the CCC Library catalog.
    2. Select its title to get a more detailed view and scroll down to the "Get It" section.
    3. Sign in using your Clackamas email username and password.
    4. Select the blue hyperlinked text "Request: CCC Library" or "Request from Other Summit Libraries," then select "Send Request."
    5. You may have to wait 20 seconds or so after clicking "Send Request" once, but you’ll get a message saying your hold is successful.
    6. The book will be retrieved for you and held for a week at CCC Library's Circulation Services desk. You’ll receive an email from CCC Library notifying you when the item is available.
For more information on checkout, see CCC Library’s borrowing rules.
  • Can I put a hold on a Course Reserve / textbook?
