In this workshop, librarian Justine reviews the difference between Open Educational Resources (OER) and other free resources that fall under the umbrella of Textbook Affordability. You’ll learn a variety of ways to implement free course materials, determine which of those best suits your needs, and discover where free course materials can be found.

Equity and Open Education Faculty Cohort
Register by June 9, 2023.

Are you interested in making your course materials relevant and accessible for all of your students? Do you wish that your course materials incorporated and supported the voices and experiences of your actual students? Are you concerned about the cost of commercial course materials that don’t support equitable student learning? Join a statewide 2-part Equity and Open Education Faculty Cohort. Participants will earn a $200 stipend upon completion of “Part 1- Explore” (July 31-August 25) and will have the option to earn an additional $300 stipend in “Part 2- Implement” (August 28-September 22).
Call for Proposals: Open Educational Resources Grants
Submit by June 23, 2023.

Open Oregon Educational Resources seeks grant proposals that implement high-impact, culturally relevant/inclusive, collaborative projects in support of open education and reduced textbook costs in lower-division courses. The purpose of the open application OER grant program is to enable instructors with any level of expertise in open education to redesign a course to meet their individual needs. The call for OER grant proposals is open through June 23. If you submit a proposal, please check your email over the summer to answer follow-up questions and to find out whether you're receiving funding.
Virtual OER Review Workshop

Attend the Virtual OER Review Workshop and learn more about OER in your field. After the workshop, if you write a short review of an open textbook from the Open Textbook Library, you’ll receive a $200 stipend. You also have the option of reviewing OER not in the Open Textbook Library for a $300 stipend (you may need to use multiple resources or consult with a librarian to find a curriculum that adds up to a whole term of content coverage).
